Post-Punk, Indie, Surfabilly, Metallic. Extra Fancy was one of the handful of post-alternative punk bands to be led by an openly gay frontman. Grillo, bassist D.A. Foster, guitarist Mike Hateley and drummer Derek O'Brien formed Extra Fancy in Los Angeles in the early '90s. In May of 1996, the group released their debut, Sinnerman, on the independent label Diablo Musica. The record became an underground success and earned good reviews, as well as the attention of Atlantic Records. The band signed with Atlantic within a few months of Sinnerman's release, and the record was repackaged and re-released by the label. -- All Music
Grillo continued on as a solo artist but has recently been playing again with Extra Fancy at an amazing sold out performance in LA.

Jellyka is the creation of glam folk songwriter & performer Angelica Oung. Considering herself a songwriter first & foremost, she has written songs for many singers throughout her short years in the industry in America & Asia. Jellykka is folk but not twee, country but not twang, and glamorous on the outside because she feels glamorous on the inside. She likes writing songs about other people because writing songs about herself only makes her feel lonelier. Gram Parsons is her dead rockstar boyfriend. Laura Nyro is her dead rockstar girlfriend. Nataasja is an LA artist, activist, curator, writer, composer & performer born in LA & Lincoln Heights/East LA is her hometown. She is now based out of Los Cabos, Baja Sur, Los Angeles, & Oakland. A guest performer, Nataasja will be performing original songs by The Utmost Something & by songwriter Jellyka. Nataasja & Demian Galvez will also perform a short set with original songs created together.

Shea Stella was born and raised in San Francisco. She went to UCLA and studied chemistry and philosophy but also found herself gravitating towards dance and art in her free time. One summers day on Cobb Mountain in California she came across a book call “Your Personal Atmosphere” by Channing Haddock. A paragraph she read that day ended up being the inspiration for her two most recent series of paintings which she calls Impressions of Stardust. Shea mediated on Haddock’s idea that we leave an impression everywhere we go which is locked into place by the eternal rain of startdust, and though it may seem invisible it is revealed by the cosmic breath and recorded in the Akashic records. Shea decided to explore the idea of the impressions we leave by making visual representations of what dancing, which is an activity of passion for her. Thus she created her dance art and the pieces she is showing here today. Each piece represents a song or idea and is made by dancing and kicking. The vivid colors and expressive metallics used are meant to reflect the mood of the song and the dancer’s connection to the song.

Prayers from Los Angeles is Shea Stella’s live painting debut. Her inspiration for dance art is to make a visual representation of what dancing looks like and how a different song, or her emotional connection to a song, can evoke different movements and inspire different use of color. She calls this series of paintings Impressions of Stardust.

Corrina Carter is a local singer & songwriter gracing our stage with her beautiful voice... Singer and musician Corrina Carter is a native of Southern California; drawing influences from folk, blues, country and soul. Her debut cd due out in January will include material from some of L.A.'s most talented songwriters: Tom Kell and Dave Morrison as well as Bay Area artist, Michael McNevin.
